May 2024: We're So Back

And we're diving in deep.

After the astrological chaos of April — eclipses! Mercury retrograde! — May feels like a breath of fresh air. We’ve been swept up in it so much that we’re a little off our usual posting schedule. Whoops!

Our most recent reading on unexpected blessings continues to play out this month. We’ve got a New Moon in Taurus, a sign that’s all about abundance and luxury. Venus and Jupiter in Taurus sprinkling a little extra beauty and fortune atop that delightful cake. And…plot twist…Uranus in Taurus?! A Jupiter cazimi and a Uranus cazimi on the same day? Mercury in Chiron again, and Pluto stationing retrograde? We’re trying not to look at these plot twist and turns as bumps in the road. Instead, maybe they can be invitations to take a peek inward and assess what about our lives needs a radical shakeup, so that we can accept even more beauty and pleasure. Then, we’ll experience a total vibe shift as we enter Gemini season, which will bring Jupiter along for the ride for the first time in 12 years. Expect a sense of expansion when it comes to connection, communication, and conversation, especially regarding terrain you last explored in 2012-ish. But before we turn outward, we gotta turn inward first. That’s where this month’s reading comes in.

Pop Culture Corner

Heartbreak feels good in a place like this.

This week, we’re doing our part to add to the Challengers and The Tortured Poets Department discourse. When it comes to both Tashi Duncan and Taylor Swift, we support women’s rights and women’s wrongs. And as with our previous criticism of Taylor, our favorite way to express love and respect for a piece of media is by picking apart everything we didn’t like about it. In case it wasn’t abundantly clear in the episode, we lived for this movie. It punched us in the gut and made us feel alive again. We just love to pretend that we’re giving studio notes. Blame our many, many Capricorn placements and respective stints as Hollywood assistants.

As for Ms. Tay…she very much obliterated the need to revisit our track-by-track predictions by surprise dropping a double album. But we still feel that our overall assessment of the vibes were pretty on point, especially some of the card pulls for individual songs (“So Long, London” as the Tower? HELLO?). And after sitting with the album for a bit, we stand firm in our conviction that buried within this often cringy 2 hours is one solid album. Select songs will still be the backbone of our spring soundtrack. But this tortured poet really needs an editor.

The Reading

Deck used: the Tarot of Pagan Cats. L-R: The Star for our overall energy, The Chariot for our challenge, and the 4 of Cups for our opportunity.

Okay, after encountering both the Tower and the Devil in last month's reading, May is looking a whole lot calmer. Thankfully. The Star comes right after the Tower in the Major Arcana — how spookily on point of us! This progression really epitomizes the phrase, “it’s always darkest before the dawn.” It looks like May is calling in a new sense of lightness and hope, which we can all agree is something the world desperately needs right now. Radical optimism is how we’ll find our way out of the dark, whether on a personal spiritual level or collectively. The Chariot as our challenge card feels like a warning to not charge forward singlemindedly and risk toppling over the edge into burnout. It also reminded us of Challengers, and not just because of the throuple vibes. And the 4 of Cups as our opportunity suggests that we already have all that we need — we just need to take a beat and be more present in our lives to fully appreciate it. Cute!

Deck used: the Pixie Oracle. L-R: Ripe Fruits, Bounty.
Deck used: the Inquire Within Oracle.

These final oracle messages feel eerily in tune with the astrological forecast for the month ahead — ripe fruit and bounty for Taurus season, and all the delicious mischief Venus, Jupiter and Uranus might conjure. And yes, the bounty card did come up previously in our last reading, which looked ahead to what Taurus season had in store for us. There’s a lot of divine feminine energy here — as we said in the episode, the girls are girling! So, spend some time this month walking children in nature, get right with yourself and your God, and wear your cutest outfit just because. Who knows what’ll happen?!

Till next time,
